Spring weather is almost here, which means that many of us might be looking forward to traveling, especially if you’re retired or like to spend your winters in a warmer climate. If this sounds like you and you wear hearing aids, we’ve compiled a guide to get your hearing aids ready for the trip with minimal hassle, so you have crystal-clear hearing and communication while on the go.

Packing List
Below we have a checklist of essential traveling gear for hearing aids.
- Hearing aid case
- Hearing aid cleaning kit
- Extra batteries or your hearing aid dock and charging cable
- Hearing aid dry kit or dehumidifier
- Hearing aid sleeves or covers, especially if your travel plans include outdoor activities
- Extra wax guards
- Any accessories you like to use
DON’T pack your hearing aids. Plan on wearing them throughout the trip. You’ll need access to them.
Notes for the Airport
If you’re flying to your destination, we have a few tips specifically for navigating the airport and TSA:
- You don’t need to take your hearing aids out when going to security
- X-rays will not harm your hearing aids
- Pack all your hearing aid equipment listed above in your carry-on bag. This way, you won’t be without your hearing aid supplies should you get caught in a long layover or your luggage is lost.
- Self-identify to help with communication
- Don’t take your hearing aids out on the airplane for your safety
Hearing Aid Checkup Before You Go
We strongly recommend visiting your audiologist before you travel. Getting your hearing aids professionally cleaned and checked over for any minor issues can be a real lifesaver when you’re away from home and far from the audiologist’s office.
